Limit the search function?

I just can't seem to keep up with the volume of traffic here at TFL. That is a good thing, generally, but when I am pressed for time I feel like I am missing out on some good information and discussions.

Is it possible to set up the user profile in such a manner that when one hits the "view new threads" command, it will only show the new threads for selected forums the user has in his profile?

By limiting the search results in this manner, the users will be better able to keep up with the posts in the forums they are most interested in. They can always go through the various forums manually if they have extra time on any given day.

I've been exploring possibilities relating to your request. AFAIK, there is no way to do exactly what you request since the "New Threads" list has no limiting factors as determined by the user.

However...

When you view any particular forum, you are automatically viewing the most recent posts to that forum. As long as you aren't subscribed to too many, it shouldn't be much of a problem to just view them this way.

Or...
If you are particularly interested in a certain few forums;
Put each of them in a file in your puter. ( I use Favorites)
Click on your choice and go to it.
