Choke tube wrench compatibility
Can anyone tell me if a Mossberg 12 ga. choke tube wrench will work on Remington 870 12 ga. choke tubes?

I've got both guns here in the house, however I can't seem to locate the 870 at the moment(it's not mine and I don't want to go through someone else's things to find it). Best I remember, my Mossberg choke tube tool will also unscrew the Rem-chokes. My choke tube tool is the little flat piece of metal that comes with the Mossberg, not some type of handle having device.

Found the 870
Yep, the Mossberg 12ga tool will work on the Remington 870 12ga. Remember, mines the little stamped piece of sheet-metal that comes with the Mossberg, not a fancy "wrench".

If you need a choke tube wrench to get a choke tube out of a gun - they're dirty and need to be cleaned and lubed ( both the chokes and the threads in the barrel ) - and you're putting them in too tight.
You ought to be able to take a choke tube out and put one in - by inserting your index finger into the choke and unscrewing it with just finger pressure. Every 10 boxes - at least - take the chokes out - clean and lube the chokes and the threads. I use Break Free on my choke tubes for lube. A "T" handle chamber brush - will help get the "plastic buildup" out of a choke tube with some cleaner. |

In case of emergency use the universal choke tube wrench: a shell.

There's no such thing as a stupid question. Glad I could help. Good luck and good shooting.
