New "Investment" has a minor flaw...

I picked up a NIB Winchester 9410 today. It has the color-case finish, and is supposed to be 1 of 150 according to the dealer, although all I've seen on various sites indicate Winchester made a run of 500 of these.

That's not a huge concern for me, but this is.....

I noticed it has a small fleck of the color-case finish missing near the top right behind the ejection port, probably between about 1/16" and 1/8" circle.

Any ideas on how to touch this up?

If I touched it with the tip of a blue pen just to hide the shiny spot, would I be sorry?

Never had a color-case finish on a gun before and am not sure what to do, or if I should do anything.

The gun is BEAUTIFUL. I figured to hold on to it a few years and see what it does in value, but who knows, I may just hang on to it and hand it down some day too.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

There is no way to "touch up" color case-hardening - if it's real. But an old trick is to heat the metal until it's very warm to the touch with a hair drier and dab Oxpho Blue on it with a Q-Tip, let it change color and wipe it off. You may need to do it a few time to get good color - and sometimes it doesn't work at all depending on what alloy the receiver is made from. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm not in a rush on this, so I've just oiled it down and put it in the safe for now. I'll just have to ponder on it for a while.
