S & w model 65-1, 10-5 4 inch pinned barrels

Can anyone help me find out the value of a nib model 65-1 .357 mag stainless with 4 inch pinned barrel made in 1978 and a nib mode10-5 .38 cal with 4 inch pinned barrel made in 1977. I would appreciate anyones help in finding out the values or where to go to find out.i will post pictures . Both guns come in the original box with all the papers . The large grips on the .357 mag came with the gun as an special feature when the gun was ordered thanks

I'm going to say ~$550-$600 on the M65-1. BTW if the gun originally came with the oversize Target stocks, the code "TS" should be found on the box-end label.

The M10-5 should be worth ~$375-$425. The issue with this gun, from a collectible standpoint, is that you have a pristine example of the most common cop gun of the 1950s-1970s. Literally hundreds of thousands of these were built just like it; the 4" tapered barrel and blue finish was the most common configuration. It's kinda like having a pristine unrestored 1977 Chevy Malibu. It may be really nice, but most collectors just won't ever find it very interesting because it's so ordinary.

I think the est on the 65 might be a little low , from what I've seen .

The condition and the box , papers , will command a premium .

^After checking comps on GB, most 95%+ Model 65s with 4" barrels and square butts are selling in the $375-$450 range, which is consistent with a LNIB example selling for $550-$600.

The 3" RB guns sell for ~$100 more in equivalent condition due to their popularity for CCW and their relative scarcity.

That said, my estimate reflects market conditions in my area, which seemingly hasn't been stricken by the LNIB P&R Magnum value insanity that has struck some other areas.

I think chris is about right on the values ... model 65 in my area is around
$ 500 ....and the model 10 $ 350 or so ...

some buyers go nuts over a box ...and some of us don't ...

I bought a model 27-2 this weekend with the original box - and I could care less about the box / and I'll never sell the gun anyway ...

the 65-1 has the "ts" on the box so the larger grips came with the gun straight from the factory.Should that increase the value of the revolver ?Anyway thanks everyone for the info

Because GunBroker does not charge a "listing fee" and allows one to re-list over and over with no penalty, the incentive is to list with a high price and hope someone is suckered in.

Asking prices on GunBroker are often ludicrous, and bear no resemblance to selling prices .

Select "completed auctions" as part of the search criteria (in "advanced search") and then sort by "number of bids"...and find out what actually sold, and for how much.

This will give you an idea of actual value. You will also see many of the same over-priced guns, re-listed ad infinitum.

This is the one major reason I spend so little time on GB these days--90% of what is there is purposely overpriced and re-listed endlessly.

i did what you advised me to do with the gunbroker site and there were many model 10-5 sold with the lnib going for around $400. But there weren't any lnib model 65-1. many were old trooper guns that shown alot of holster wear and scratches. They sold for around $350 but were beaten up so Im thinking my pistol may be valued at around $500. Thanks again
