Using a 280 Gr. OWC in .430 for the 44 Mag. Had the mold made up by Veral Smith at LBT. This is a terrific hunting bullet for deer. Golf ball size exit hole. Does not have to be hot-rodded either. Design affords maximum powder space too. Anybody using LBT molds out there or using these cast bullets?

I have an LBT mold for the 44 cal 280 gr WFN.
Have not shot anything with it yet as I have
not yet been able to get any accuracy with it. Need to take Veral's advise and fire lap
the bore and do more load development. I have
been thinking about getting a S&W 45 ACP revolver and using the LBT Ogival Wadcutter.
Here's my idea: The 45 OWC at about 300 gr.
loaded to about 1000 fps. Should be a good
for about anything around here. And it should
have less recoil and muzzle blast than my
629, at least with full power loads.
What was your gun, load, and velocity
on the deer kill ? Did the deer drop immediatly or run when hit ? This is the first I have heard of the OWC being used on game, so I am curious about the performance
details.
