If cost and avaliability were equal what would be the consensus choice between IMR-4895 compared to H-4895 for use in the M1 Garand with 150 grain ball? I know that both are very equal however some of you may have experience with both powders. I personally have only used IMR-4895 in my Garand not any H-4895. I have used tons of H-4831 in other rifles and am well pleased with it, as well as the many many pounds of IMR-3031 and IMR-4350.

South. I believe IMR-4895 is a bit faster burning than the H-4895. I have to use 2 grains less using the IMR version in my 30-06.

I agree Paul they are not the exact same, and believe me I was not trying to substitute one for the other in a given load. I have always used the IMR-4895 in both 22-250 and 30-06 loads, and now that I am loading for a Garand, besides my 03A3, I realize that I will be locked into a powder in that burning range if I want to interchange ammo. I do know that both powders are acceptable in a sensible load, but was just wpondering if anyone had any personal preference.
