My fantasy list is too extensive too list always something out there I can upgrade to. The realistic list much shorter
I smell what you're steppin' in. I divide my want list into 5 parts, the first three parts are the lists of guns and bows that I *will* get, gawd willing and the crick don't rise. The last two parts are the "probably won't or definitely won't" ever actually get. Specifically, I've got these categories:

1. Highest priority (within 1-2 years)
2. Medium-high priority (within 3-4 years)
3. Medium priority (5-10 years)
4. Medium-low priority (11-20 years or never - can take or leave)
5. Lowest priority (mild interest in but probably would never get)

And yeah, the last two categories (probably won't ever get) are by far the longest - thankfully I'm realistic nowadays.

Mine have changed some already....

I just reduced my highest priority list from about 5 guns to just 3, due to budget constraints and a recent acquisition:
--Tanfoglio Witness Steel Hunter longslide 10mm
--CZ 527 American in .17 Hornet
--Marlin 336Y 16" .30-30 (*IF* I can find one put together correctly)

I moved the others to my 'Medium-High' (3-4 year) list, so that includes now:
--an SBR'ed 11.5" AR15 dedicated to .22lr with a Cenier conversion, slide-fire unit, and Trijicon RMR-DI (my "full-auto" .22lr)
--an SBR'ed & suppressed .357 max T/C Contender (dedicated to subsonic 'soup can' 230 wadcutters)
--RIA 1911 in .22TCM & 9x19mm
--Benelli Montefeltro Silver 20 ga, and
--16" middy AR15 in 6.5 grendel
...as well as a bow and two suppressors ('oil can' and Silencerco Sparrow).

And there's only 1 gun and 1 bow on the 'Medium' (5-10 year) list; about 10 guns on the 'Medium-Low' (11-20 years or never) list; and about 25 guns on the 'Lowest' (mild interest in only) list.

Yeah, OCD....

1. Aug A3 CQC
2. SR-25
3. .308 bolt gun (Kimber 8400 adv tact? Rem 700 SPS tact?)
4. AAC 762-SDN-6 (although technically not a gun)

That's enough.

DTA MDR, then just barrels. That's all you need for a rifle these days

1. Saiga 7.62x39 - Best AK-like rifle that's legal in NY.
2. KelTec SU-16, for the above reason. Or maybe a Mini-14?
3. A non-butchered AR-15, God-willing, we beat the SAFE Act (not holding my breath...)
4. Armscor M206 .38spl snub nose (if I move to FL)
5. A 1911 of some sort, most likely Springfield armory. (If I move to FL)

If you think I'm going through the moronic process of getting a handgun permit in NY, you're dreaming... :P

I can certainly do without a couple handguns, if it means keeping my privacy in-tact.

Ohhh...let's see:

CW380: I'm all excited to get one to replace my trust 32, but that may pass.

CM40: Well, is a 6 shot 40 more or less gun than a 5 shot 357mag? That is why the 640 still is with me, but...

SA1911 finish: this is a project gun which has been idling along for a year or so....might pull the trigger on finishing over the winter.

XDM 5.25" 45 Auto: Really want this, but maybe the XD40, Glock and this would better serve me as a 2011.

STI 2011: I have a hankering to fill out my 1911 collect with a hi cap tactical, railed 1911 and send my G21 packin.

So, probably no change to my load out.

Short term: Sell/trade my G27 for a G23 or G32 and then get conversion barrels.

Gonna take a while: a Chiappa Rhino.

Out of all the cool guns I've owned the 870 Police is my favorite for just having some fun. Take it out to the woods with some slugs and 00 Buck and just blast away at trees and the what not. Just a heck of a lot of fun. I think you are going to really like it.

Update to what I said in post #29

Update to what I said in post #29

Quote:
Springfield XDm, probably the 4.5 inch, probably .40 cal, possibly .45. This will be my primary home defense handgun, taking the place of the one I have now.
Update: bought it, 4.5 inch, .40 caliber. I like it, shoots well, 16 round mags, and fitted it with a Crimson Trace Lightguard tactical light.

Quote:
.22 pistol, semiauto, probably a Ruger Mark III, Browning Buck Mark, or Ruger SR22. Others possibly, if I find a good deal
Update: bought a Ruger Mk III 22/45. Nice gun, shoots well. My wife and stepdaughter both like it...good gun for them to shoot, and for me to practice. Now if only .22 ammo was easier to get, and cheaper....

Quote:
a smaller pistol for concealed carry. Was thinking of a Kel-Tec PF-9 or Ruger LC9, but now thinking about the Springfield XDs
Update: after some research, bought a Kahr CW9. Good price, like the features, compares well to the others I had been considering, better in some categories. The trigger may take some getting used to, but much better than most double-action triggers I've tried. Have not shot it yet, just got it this week.

Quote:
.22 rifle, semiautomatic (not available at Dick's Sporting Goods), probably a Ruger, Marlin, or Remington
Update: have not bought it yet, but I see the Mossberg 702 Plinkster at a good price at Wal-Mart. May get that one soon.

Quote:
Semi-auto rifle in a service caliber, probably Ruger Min-14, possibly Auto-Ordnance M1 Carbine
Update: changed my thinking here somewhat, currently looking into doing something I thought I'd never do, buying an AR. Front runner in my mind is the Ruger AR-556, if I can find one....relatively new and hard to find, but great price, has decent features stock, and I can add some I'd like for a reasonable price.

Quote:
Shotgun, 12 gauge or 20 gauge, primarily intended for home defense. Mossberg 500 most likely
Update: Not sure whether I'm going to buy one or not, so it's currently bottom priority for me.

Addition to the list.....thinking about some other pistols, one of which would be a 1911, probably a Kimber Custom II. When I can afford it.

I have a gun to fill every niche so I may be done. If I had the money I would consider a Savage .243 to fill the gap between .223 and .270 and maybe a mid frame .45 auto, but I am broke and don't really need either of them. I would rather spend the money on reloading supplies for the guns I do have.

1.. My first levergun... just picked up a 336 in 35 remington.
2.. Another Remington 700. This one in 308.
3.. Something older and different. Maybe a 600/660 Remington, or a Husqvarna.

Really would like a 44 mag with a 6-7" barrel. I have never fired one, and would like to use it for deer hunting.

Soonest-M&P Shield 9mm No safety- Always wanted one but I'm left handed, and didn't want a gun with a safety on the wrong side.

Soon-Savage 99 in preferably 308 but will take a mint 300sav for the right price.

Soon- CZ 550 FS in 6.5x55

Next Year-Pump Action .22, probably a Henry.

In this exact order, starting with the Bodyguard to replace the one I sold and because it's dirt cheap.

M&P Bodyguard .380
Springfield M1A Scout
Sig 229 or Glock 19 (still undecided)
Another 14.5" BCM midlength upper
Ruger Redhawk 5.5" .44 Magnum

1) Ruger 77 in 257 Roberts.

Numbers 2 and on would be custom builds.
2) 6.5mm Rem Mag (target rifle) Yup, I like to be different!!
3) 25 Souper (hunting rifle)
4) would be either in 6mm, or 6.5mm target rifle for the g/f..
