Light on Lee Classic Turret Press
Has anyone put a light on the Lee Classic Turret press? I really would like to see onto the shell to ensure that it is charged. I put a battery operated bore light on mine, but I would like one without batteries. I'd like one that I can plug in and forget. I'm listening to all ideas and hopefully some pics.
Thanks.

You might be able to adapt something from Inline Fabrication. |

you can hit up amazon or ebay and get an USB LED light. add a USB wall plug from just about any cell phone made in the past 5 years and you have a $5 solution

I have a heavy duty plumber/electrician flex light on mine. The barrel is strapped to one of the press uprights in the rear. The flex line is long enough to go around to the work area, while staying clear of the passing powder measure. I got the light in the electrical area in Lowe's.
Amazon offers the light I have. Last edited by Real Gun; April 30, 2014 at 06:14 AM. |

Those lights look quite nice...I like that you can use a power adaptor or AA batteries if you want. I'm going to invest in one of these for my Lock n Load AP! |

Btw, what caliber are you running on the turret ?
For 9mm I dont use the light as the powder fill the case quite a bit, but for 38 special I have to. I dont use it either for my rifle rds because I weight each and every one of them |

You can also buy adapter plugs that turn a US/Canadian vertical-double-stacked wall outlet into three 3-prong outlets and two USB outlets. Convenience to your purposes depends on where the plugs are in your reloading suite or shed or whatever.

Target, can't remember what it cost at the time($10-$12 maybe.). It is very bright and the clamp is grippy rubber stuff on the inside, it holds really well. I can see the powder in a .223 case. Works for most any press. |

Yep, I do the same, different brand of light but the same way. You can adjust it the way you need. And being a led it barely use power.

If you search past threads, at least one guy was buying auto decorating white LED strips from Wallyworld and positioning them around the press. They run on 12V, of course, so any 12V adapter with enough current output will operate them.

I need the light for 38/357's. I also run 380's but no light needed for them. The shell is not deep enough to be a problem. I'm still looking. Now another problem, The little cup on the primer installer broke. It got stuck up under the shell, I had to tap it to get it down and the whole thing came out including the pin that pushes the primer up. Lee is sending a new one. BTW, Lee should sell a light for each press.
5.1.14 I obtained a light from Advance Auto. I got just got a bulb and socket, taped it in position, hooked it up to a very small cell phone charger and away we go. Works well.

I went ahead and ordered the lighting system from Inline Fabrication and wow what a difference. Those little LEDs really put off a lot of light...if you have the 45 bucks I wouldn't hesitate to get this system...it works very well, is easy to install and does put the light directly into the case (despite what Real Gun stated)!

My frame of reference was a light charge in a 357 Magnum case. My rig is just like yours, and I still need a flexlight pointed directly into the case for just a needle's eye view of the powder. The problem, of course, is that the press is in the way for powder down near the shell plate level. I just watch my powder cop more closely than ever. I am not a fan of readjusting the lockout die for powder charge changeovers, so I favor the powder cop for now.
BTW, from the pictures it appears your LEDs are much brighter than mine. |
