I have some small familiarity with that well designed and manufactured rifle that unfortunately didn't succeed in the market place.

I have one in 270 Win. I bought a 30-06 barrel from Brownell's, about ten years ago. The barrel switching is easy with cartridge of similar case head size. My issue is that round nose bullets are getting caught just bellow the chamber. MIght be the magazine. But I only shoot pointed bullets on them now.

What type of bulletsdo you find shoots well?
I have a .25-06, .30-06 barrel, .280 and & 7mm magnum. All synthetic with an extra wood stock that came with the .280. Bores on the standard calibers are nice and shiny. The 7mm came with a Nikon Monarch 4-12. The .280 has Leupold Quik release bases and mounts. |

Sig SHR-970 Black Synthetics
I love shooting my .30-'06. It likes Core-Loks just fine. 150, 165 & 180 grn.
I also have a "new to me" SHR-970 in .270 Winchester, that I picked up at a gunshow not too far away. The price was right and it's in "just barely used condition". Unfortunately no box, paperwork or take-down wrench, but it's in the corral. My hunting rifle is topped with a nice Zeiss Conquest 3-9x50mm in Leupold Rings. I have taken off the Warne and S and K rings that came off of my rifles (to get to spare barrels, I bought a few other rifles and then sold just the actions). I didn't really like the 30mm optics that came on one of the rifles though. I also keep .300 Win Mag Ammo, SHR-970 Brl, Bolt and Mags for it. Never can tell when I'll get drawn for a Moose Hunt. I know, the .30-'06 round is plenty for moose too, but it's a good excuse not to have to shoot my .375 H&H. My buddy also found a Sig STR-970 Rifle for sale in Kentucky and bought it "for a song" - gun shop didn't know what they had - it just drives tacks with Winchester Supreme's in 168 grn (I think that's his exclusive round). Enjoy the rifle and calibers! Joe's Pawn in Alabama always seems to have spare magazines for sale on GB, or you can call them direct.

SHR 970
I just picked up a new .270 Barrel from Numerich. I would like to find a takedown tool. I saw a new .300 Winmag on GB with the gun tool. He wants $549. I can buy a rifle for $600-700.
