Source for Mauser Bolts?
I have heard that there are places that sell stripped Mauser bolts already modified for use with a scope (ie with turned down handles) ... I have also heard that some of the people who supply them can also supply them with the face opened up and extractor modified for a magnum. Can anyone point me to a source? I've searched for a few days and can't seem to locate one. I am particularly interested in the Mag version, but I imagine that even a normal one might be a good start as they will most likely know their competition
Thanks for your help, Saands |

I think there is a gunsmith who haunts Ebay and offers modified Mauser bolts from time to time... do a search on "mauser"
Naturally, it is best to have the bolt and action come as one and then farm the bolt out to a trusted smith for modifications... |

Hi, Saands,
A "just in case" note. If the rifle is a Yugo M48 or M48A, it is not a standard Model 1898 action and a 98 bolt won't fit. Jim |

DeBee ... Thanks for the idea ... I have been shopping for a LONG time on the interenet, but e-bay was a new one to me ... lots of stuff, but obviously a buyer beware kind of site
Jim ... I am planning on starting with a Turk action and a takeoff barrel from a Rem700. I read another of your posts on the M48 being original, and was surprised as I have seen one of the Yugo M48As and a German K98k side by side and hadn't noticed the difference! Good info, Thanks |
