45 acp loads

I have gotten back into reloading for 45 ACP. I have Berry's RN FMJ in 230 gn, Precisions coated LSWC in 200 gn, CCI primers, and Hodgdon Titegroup powder.

I am looking for anyone that is loading this combination of bullets and powder for a 45 ACP. Also if you are using these bullets but a different powder and primer, what are you suggested loads. I have looked at different sources for info and thought I would ask the reloaders on this forum. Thank You for any information.

Yes I realize I have to be careful using someone else's reload data. Both of my 45s are modern and in good condition. I am less interested in speed than reliability while my grandkids are shooting with me.

I use 4.7 grains of Titegroup under both 230 grain (warm) and 185 grain (mild) lead bullets, so it should work fine for a mid-grade load under your 200s.

I've had excellent results with Clays in the .45ACP. I usually load Berry's 200 gr HP over 4.2 gr of Clays and I get just under 800 fps. It's a nice, soft-shooting and accurate load that works 100% in all my 1911s and my XD45.

With a Berry's 230 gr bullet, I've used 4.0 gr of Clays and gotten 815 fps.

Be sure you use Clays and not Universal Clays. They're different powders.

You can find a lot of good info here:

I use 4.6 grains of Titegroup on my 230 gr FMJ. Super accurate and clean. CCI primers and nickel plated brass. Super slick

My two favorites are:

5.2 Grains of Win231 with a Berry's 230gr RN set at 1.240" COAL.

5.4 Grains of Hodgdon Universal with a Berry's 230gr RN set at 1.240" COAL.

I use Titegroup for 185gr & 200gr LSWC and 230gr LRN. 4.0 grains of powder for target work for all of the mentioned bullets. Even 230gr FMJ ball. All 4.0 grains of Titegroup.

Makes it easy for me to remember. 4.0 grains for everything .45acp.

AFK--- You stole my load. I second his load. Very accurate load indeed.

The Berry bullets are not FMJ, they are Plated. Berry recommends using "low to Mid range" jacketed data.

I like WST in my 45's. Here is some data.

230 gr Plated RN, CCI 300 primer.
4.6 gr of Bullseye or 6.0 gr of Unique.
I've found tha 4.6 gr of bullseye is pretty sweet under a 200 gr cast RNFP as well. Mild & accurate.

SR7625 and AA#5 works good for me under 200gr SWC & TC. HP-38,N320,N340 are good for plated and jacketed.

CAUTION: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Neither the writer, The Firing Line, nor the staff of TFL assume any liability for any damage or injury resulting from use of this information.

with 200gr lead SWC bullets I like 4.5gr of Bullseye, nice and accurate and seems to be mild recoil.
