Keeping Hogs From Deer Feeder
Went with a friend to check his hog traps south of Walters, OK. The guys on that lease have a neat way of keeping hogs away from the deer feeders. They split a pig panel lengthwise and build an 18" high fence around the feeder. T-posts are cut in two for posts. They put a post about every four feet.
The deer just hop over the fence but the hogs stay out. |

Electric fence would keep them at bay, as hogs really hate being zapped. After a while, you can turn it off and they still won't cross that line. Farrowing domestic hogs in open pens made of electric fence, it was a tough job to get them out when we wanted to, weeks later!

Zplinker is correct about hogs and hot wires.
The problem is deer have absolutely NO respect for a hot wire and will run through one and tear it down faster than you can keep it repaired. Ask me how I know this. |
