338 lite
Greetings gentlemen - As an introduction let me say I'm new to this forum but not new to reloading. I've been involved with this hobby for about twenty years and have loaded several domestic sporting cartridges for rifle and handgun as well as a variety of metric ammo for contract mausers I sometimes play with. Today I'm headed to the range to test a couple of 338WM loads I'm developing for a new Ruger #1. I'm looking for best accuracy with 180 and 200 grain Nosler BTs. Max velocity is not a goal in this case as I only wish to aproximate 30-06 class ballistics for use on medium game (whitetail, axis). This type of data (naturally)is sometimes hard to find in publications, I'll post results if any are interested. Pleasure to be here.

The first load, using imr4831 over the 180 ballistic tips, doesn't look too promising; minute of brontosaurus I suppose. The second load fired was h4350 and the same bullet, it would appear to have better potential in my rifle. I think I'll scout down that trail for awhile, it produced five shot groups in the 1 1/4" range, nice cluster, no vertical or horizontal stringing. The rifle, by the way, is straight out of the box with no tuning. It has the lawyer proof trigger that will need to be dealt with soon.
