Brass deflectors

Anyone use a rail mounted brass deflector? I couldn't take it any longer and just bought a varmint rig AR, but I can't afford to be tossing brass halfway across a bean field and never finding it. I've seen numerous different flavors but I'd like to see if anyone currently runs them and what does or doesn't work.

Thanks

Hang a baseball cap over the scope tube by the adjustment strap in the rear.

You could always get one of those brass-catching bags that attaches to an AR:

Have you ever seen the old-timers just fold a bandana/pocket handerchief in half (diagonally) and
tie the two ends to the carrying handle front and rear? The loose end/triangle portion drapes over
the ejection port and the brass drops right there. (I mean right there) ...either at your feet or 3" right
of the gun on the bench.... slick.)

I've also got one of these (one of each type: 1@ carry handle and 1@ space gun):

They work extremely well.

I came across those today. Sounds like they work. Maybe I'll try one.

I just want something clean and small that'll get the job done. I'm sure there are various ways, but that one looks the cleanest.

Thanks

One of the problems with the screw on type is that if you are at a range when a cease fire is called, the action has to be open and empty and or a flag in the chamber.

What I found worked well was the Velcro starp on type. Not 100% as they can loose an occasional case through the edges and sometime hot cartridge will melt the plastic (not suppose to but) , but overall works pretty well.

Also easy and quick to put on and pull off for the cease fires.

Take a bit of working with it to get tight and figure out how it snugs up best

This gun will never see a range, fortunately I've been blessed with my own farm big enough I can regularly shoot up to 600 yards.

Any cease-fire merely requires the rifle be laid down on its left side to fully
expose the open chamber (and magazine out)

Perhaps where you are but not everywhere has the same rules. The local Isaac Walton here rules are racked, empty, bolt open, & chamber flag inserted.

The IWLA here in Manassas has bolt open/magazine out. Most of us use flags and/or bright inserts (like pencils), but I can't see how a brass deflector would negate that open-bolt observation in racked mode.

Possibly by blocking the RSO's ability to actually see the flagged chamber?

I use this guy, not sure who made it. It just snaps on under the carrying handle and you never know its there until you DON'T HAVE TO CHASE BRASS IN THE SNOW.

I got it in the late 70s and it still works today.

Takes as instant to snap on and off, faster then installing an Empty Chamber Indicator (which I'm quite fond of).

Like I said, I don't know who made it, a while back this topic came up and I found it doing a google search so its still out there.

Brass deflectors

Just got mine in the mail today, its either this one, or a close variant. Had to do a little fittings to get it between the scope bases, but man does it work great. Drops them within 6" of the ejection port... No more hunting for brass.
