Beware of shows like Future Weapons on the history/military channel. They are essentially free contractor advertising and ought to be taken with a full shaker of salt.

Its a $1000 AR-15, but with a $300 piston kit, retailing for ~$2000

Oh, and most everything about it is non-spec, to keep us dangerous civilians from turning it into an assault rifle. But it is almost identical to the M4 in Modern Warfare 2.

Here is the closest thing those of us in the USA can get.

I thought we were talking about rifles here. Who cares about MW2?

Before getting too deep in to the Hk416, consider the proprietary bolt, the higher height over bore, and that there are plenty of other less expensive piston ARs out there.

Ruger

I would buy a Ruger 556 before the HK 416...

I'll take a Ruger or a Robinson before HK gets my money.

Take any AR and put on an Adams Arms Retrofit Piston System. 1/2" stroke keeps the bolt carrier rock in check, fully disassembled from the front for ease of maintenance. Very NICE system.
