Colt seems to be getting back into shape these days [according to some of the gun magazines, anyhow]. I understand that they will possibly be "bringing back old favorites", depending on demand. Does anyone here think that we may see the resurrection of the .44 Mag and/or .45 Colt Anaconda? If so, what price range would you expect for this reborn serpent? Heaven knows, the prices for the ones still floating around out there are insane....

Your guess is as good as mine on that point. But I believe Colt would introduce a .357 Magnum first to test the waters. The .44 Magnum market seems pretty well sewed up by Smith & Wesson and Ruger. Maybe a .45 Colt revolver to reintroduce the name Colt to sixgunners.

It is doubtful Colt could make a comeback against the L-Framed and N-Framed Smiths, and such revovlers as the Python and Diamondback are not likely to be seen again at affordable prices.

Maybe so re-introducing something like the Colt Cowboy to get into the cowboy action shooting game.

The New Model Rugers have departed from the cowboy action mode, maybe Colt might edge one in there.

Thanks, Bob. I didn't really expect a lot of replies on this one, just trying to get a feel for the consensus. In any case, I'd love to have an Anaconda, and frankly, either caliber would be fine...but like I said, the prices for the ones I encounter are way out of my reach.

If/when Colt brings out a new revolver, my bet is it will be a Magnum Carry size small CCW revolver.

The question about a .44 Mag would depend entirely on what Colt's marketing research tells them the potential sales would be.
A lot of people talk a good game about buying a new Colt revolver, but when it comes time to pay a substantial amount more for it then a Ruger or S&W, actual sales might not be enough to allow a re-introduction.

I agree that manufacturing the things (if done the old way) would put quite an expensive price tags on them.

I guess the demand would be quite low, but I would like to see them take another stab at the 1877 Lightning double action. I might not have thought that until I saw where they are including the 1911 (Wild bunch) into a, or some parts of, Cowboy shooting. Colt wouldn't have to use the same mechanics, materials, and guts- but it would be way cool to see a Colt Cowboy double action in .38spl, .38-40, .44-40, .44 Russian, .44 S&W, .44spl, and .45 Long Colt... maybe even .45AR (just to bring that ctg back around to a bit more commonness).
