One more immigration rant.
This is from another thread.

Here's some advice to those who are of the "plant the land mines and man the machine guns mentality", not directed at any one individual. It's spelled illegally, not illegaly. We're talking about the border, not the boarder, which you want guarded, not gaurded. I would expect that people so much in favor of making English the national language would at least make an effort to spell it correctly. My apologies to those that are intelligently discussing this issue, I'm just fed up with level of stupidity this issue is bringing out in people.

In related news:
It's "amendment", not "ammendment". "There" is a locative pronoun, "their" is a possessive pronoun and "they're" is a contraction. They are not interchangeable. "Illeagle" is a large, sick bird, but only if you put a space between the second l and the e. Otherwise, it's not a word. The apostrophe is used to denote ownership, or to form a contraction. It is not an indicator that the letter "s" is about to follow, and should not be used as such, nor to pluralize a word. "Rich's vein is about to pop out of his forehead" is proper use of the apostrophe. "The Illegal's are ruining our country" is incorrect use of the apostrophe.

Here's a thinking-man's response to the problem; addressed as an open letter to Senator Bill Frist. Enjoy! Quote:

Two things. The letter that Dave posted is real. It can be verified in several ways, the least of which is through snoops.com.
Secondly, Mr. Stoddard has actually testified twice before Congress on the illegal alien problem. First in March 18, l999 before the House Subcommittee on Immigration and Claims and next on February 22, 2002 before U.S. SUBCOMMITTEE ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE, DRUG POLICY AND HUMAN RESOURCES. Take a read on these, please. |
