"Brass Under Glass" - cartridge embedments

Handgun cartridges embedded in a multi-faceted, crystal clear block of solid Lucite acrylic. Am launching this business now. Looking for your input on what calibers to do. (rifle calibers are a possibility for the near future - say, maybe the 5 most popular). These are inert, so can be sold to anyone. E-mail me for a brochure and/or further info. I think you've never seen these before. I'm the only one doing them??

I've got a .357 in a pyramid shape on my desk right now. I ordered it from Centerfire Designs out of Des Plains, IL.

It sure makes a great conversation piece. You'd be suprised how may folks hesitate to pick it up, because they think it may be dangerous.

I'm sure you'll find buyers for most any handgun cartridge. Start with the most popular. 9mm, .38, .357 & .45acp. Personally, I'd be interested in a classic lead RN .45 Colt.

I think i'd be really neat to see fully expanded hollow points emmbeded in plastic.

Like the "Black Talon" or a "Hydra Shock"

things of that nature...

Brass. It's more traditional for rifle.

As for expended bullets, that sounds great. If I can find my old arrowhead with which I harvested Sparky, will you do that?

Hairball:

I have done a few .44 magnum hollowpoints, just to test the product theory. They were either Sierra or Hornady. Came out quite nice. Even engraved ".44" on the front of the Lucite block, and color filled the numbers in blue, for easy visibility. Rifling marks & cannelure plainly seen on the shank of the bullet. Mushroomed to 5/8". Embedded in a standing wedge of Lucite with approx. dimensions 2.9" tall, 2.3" wide & 1.25" thick at the base.
Black Talon:
I don't have a source of them. Anyone got recovered ones laying around? I think it would make a dramatic display!

I agree - brass is more traditional than nickel plating, especially for rifle carts.
Have done a few expanded hollowpoints in .44 already, just as a product test (see reply to Hairball above).
Re arrowheads - it was a thought I had a while ago, to approach the archery buffs, but have had little luck with this item inside the Lucite. It seems to pull away from the sharp edges of the head, during curing, and gives the looks of a cosmetically flawed embedment. If this ever can be done 100% reliably, I'll let you know as I would not want to jeopardize anyone's treasured item (such as the head that brought "Sparky" down)

Cool - I like the expanded idea...

Have in one block - the cartridge, then the bullet "in flight" and then the fully expanded bullet.

Do that it Golden Sabers, Hydra-Shoks, Gold Dots or Star Fires... and I bet that would sell. Do one in .45 Hydras - Methinks I would have to buy one.

I received the catalog today. This looks like some GREAT stuff. I've asked Wayne for prices on a 10mm in pyramid and a .45ACP pen set.
