Browning Gold Hunter vs Rem 11-87

I am looking to buy a semi auto shotgun, I'm a lefty and would use it as a general purpose shotgun, a little skeet, trap and some hunting. I like the 11-87 as it is available in a left hand version, I've also heard the that Gold hunter is quite good and the safety is reversible, which for me is a must. Used left handed 11-87's are scarce, so in my neck of the woods (Canada) they go about $869+ taxes, I've also seen a used Gold Hunter in Exc. condition for $795. Your thoughts and ideas would be appeciated. Thanks

The Gold is a lot better shotgun, I have owned a couple of each.

Also take a look at the SuperX2, and the Beretta 390/391.

I don't own a Gold, but one of my buddies does. Compared to a Remy, it has a lot better fit and finish, as far as dependability, I still think either is a good choice. I currently have 2 -1100's, 1- 11-87 and a Berreta 390. I have not had a problem with any of them. In my opinion any are great. I am a southpaw shooter too, I don't have a problem shooting a righty, except on occasion I do get a few powder flecks on my face.

I like and own both, but the nod goes to the Gold. It's the one I hunt with 80% of the time.

I have a 11-87 SPS that I got for Christmas this year. I consider remingtons workhorse shotgun's. I do want a Browning Cynergy in Stainless though thats one good looking Gun, but it would see little feild time because I would worry about something happening to it.
I'll never understand my thought process for wanting a gun I wouldn't want to take out on a rainy day and shoot some birds with but I still want one.

I have a 11-87LH, which has done me well. Never failed me yet, except for two FTE's on cheap skeet ammo. I can say that 11-87 will not be a mistake (IMHO).

With the browning Gold:You may have to do a bit of "fiddling" to get used to using a right-ejecting gun, specifically when loading (unless they make browning gold in a left hand and I don't know), but you'll get used to it. (I spent a decent amount of time using a borrowed beretta 391, which was extremely reliable). Maybe not even then, since the "quick load" feature of the gold means that you may not need to load straight through the ejection port. (I'm not sure i feel comfortable with such a system, but thats mr "young and foolish" talking here.)

Now on to something I have no experience with: the *people in the know* agree that the browning gold is better, i don't *think* either one is a bad choice.

Have you handled/sized them both?
