Lookin for a good Compact with a nice price.
I haven't read to many good things about kel-tec but want something small in either .380 or 9mm, and don't wanna spend a million dollars..
Any advice?

I'm very happy with my Ruger LCP although I don't have a large number of rounds through it yet. It's very popular. I was on a list at my favorite shop but finally bought one through http://GunBroker.com/. The MSRP is $330. They go from $310 - $340 on GunBroker last I checked. If you are patient, a good deal may pop up. I got mine for $300 including shipping.

I see you already have a Glock 22 so why not a Glock 26 or 19 for the 9mm?
For a .380 I'd say the Bersa Thunder or the Ruger LCP.

Based on your description and implied price range, I agree with the Glock 19...you should be able to find a good used one for a good bargain.

Kahr CW9 or K9. Small but tough. I alos carry the Taurus P111 Mill pro. It also holds 12 in the mag which I love. Has a trigger safety so wife is not scared to death of it. Love that gun. Bought the Kahr because it's a bit smaller for light clothing wear. Both between $300-400.

M&P Compact
I went to the range this morning with two of my friends and they couldn't put down my S&W M&P 9 Compact . In fact, I didn't even get a chance to shoot it .

Well I do Love Glocks, and have two already.. Maybe I will try the SA/XD 3 inch sub compact in 9mm.
I only have one 9 mm so maybe I need another. Thanks boys for all the help. Just looked at the Glock 26 also.. Very nice.

What do you call a "compact"? With Keltec, the .380 is a pocket gun & the PF9/P11 are a bit bigger (I consider them subcompacts).
Pocket guns: Ruger LCP Kahr PM9 Subcompacts: Springfield XD9 Subcompact Glock 26 If you have Glocks now, you should really shoot the XD before buying it. The trigger is quite different imo. I personally like the feel of the trigger better but the Glock trigger has much better travel (especially the reset). My newest EDC is an XD9 SC (my 4th XD now). Either it or the 26 (my favorite Glock but I don't own any anymore) would be a great choice for a subcompact. |
