7 62x39mm gel test: 123 gr Fusion

Federal 123 gr Fusion soft point fired from 16" WASR-10/63 into calibrated 10% gelatin.

BB: 588.5 fps, 3.6"

Impact velocity: ~2,267 fps
Penetration: 15.1"
Retained weight: 117.4 gr
Max expansion: 0.759"
Min expansion: 0.460"
Neck: 0.5"
TSC: 2.5"x8"

Thats a great video, thanks for sharing the results. I built a 7.62x39 ar for hunting and am just getting ready to reload, I may have to see if I can copy the ballistics of this setup.

My old USAF buddy lives and hunts in northern Virginia. His rifle is a short CZ carbine chambered for this amazing Soviet cartridge. Each year he downs half dozen does and a buck. Typically just one shot into each animal.

Very informative. What ammo does your friend use, Jack?

I used cast last year in my CZ. Worked like a champ.

I'll have to test that one too. I'll keep an eye out for it. I've heard, but cannot confirm, that the same bullet is used in Fusion and Federal Power-Shok.
