custom grip cap anyone doe this (pic inside)
I build custom guitars and ukuleles professionally (hence the name Luthier), and I was wondering if anyone likes these sort of things. I made this for my dad out of Maple and ebony. Inlay is in paua Abalone. You think people would like these and buy em? I made this one for, obviously, my dad, but I can do all kinds of custom inlays from names, to small pictures. This is for a thompson center encore (I have one so I copied the cap size and hole layout)
forgive the wax build up in the holes... forgot to clean it up before the pic... one in progess showing the routed inlay area... |

I like it. I'd consider buying one.

Your price is very fair IMO. If I can get the gripcap off my Winchester Featherweight, I may send it to you.

Wouldn't the baloney stink after awhile?
Nice work. I envy people who can work with wood in such a manner. How would you propose making these for other firearms? You'd need patterns of some type, wouldn't you? Stock dimensions and styles have changed over the years. |

Took me a bit to realize your play on words. If you read the auction, he's asking you to send your gripcap in so he can match it.

Thanks for the nice words guys. And yep because these change I do need the grip cap you want me to replicate. I will be keeping templates of each one I receive and after a while I'll build up a library of templates, and may have some on hand for guys after a while. Till then I'll just match the cap I'm sent. Thanks!
