Sig p238 who loves it?

I have a gambler edition and I love it, looks and shoots like a dream. It has aces and eights in tribute to wild bill hickcock's last hand... Coincidentily its been said the .380 has similar ballistics to hickcocks back up pistol which had killed many a man, it was heavy comparef to this sig. Bill didnt have night sights or more than 5 shots, reloading wss a bitch for him, not me I, like this as a carry pistol , any other thoughts?

I've got one of the earlier ones that I like but don't love. It will go about 40-50 rounds trouble free, but after that I get intermittent feeding problems if I don't break it down and clean it. Makes me a little too wary of it for carry. If I could get through a 100 in a row every time, I'd like it a whole lot more and carry it for backup. I've tried different mags, springs, ammo, etc but can't quite get it over the hump.

For it's size it has good ergonomics, very good sights, very good accuracy to 15 yards or so, etc. - just need the reliability to be a bit better.

Love mine too, has about 200 rounds of mostly "white box" ammo and has been flawless. Is a "natural pointer" for me and I've found it pretty accurate for its intended use, i.e. it's a carry gun not a target piece, and it'll put a full magazine into a COM-size target without a whole lot of effort. Everyone who has "taken a turn" with it has shared my opinion, is one all find a joy to shoot.

My LCP in comparison is a nifty size & weight but I have to be at reach out and touch me range to hit anything. I'm sure some can shoot it just fine, but i haven't found anyone yet.

Beautiful little gun... I am especially fond of the Colt Mustang which was the original design for the P238... They are the perfect balance of weight... Big enough you feel like you have a gun, and small enough that you can carry all day long...

I have not yet added a P238 to my personal collection, but plan to soon...

I was very disappointed with the Gambler. Despite its name, it does not include Kenny Rogers. I hate having to pay extra for aftermarket parts.

Also, the gun does not feed Super Vels very well.

For folks with normal expectations and habits, it appears to be an impressive little gun. It's got good sights for a pocket gun, a slightly heavy but predictable trigger, and the ones I've handled have been reliable.

I have an Equinox and have enjoyed it. Has about 1300 rds through. Has been back to Sig for the recall. I bought it used. Only issue that I have had was one of the Colt mags that I use will sometimes not feed right. I only use the Colt mags for plinking around. Will use only Sig mags for carry. Just picked up a Shielded Holster tuckable for it and it makes a very nice carry option.

No Execter Sigs for me and most on their on forum. Its a gamble to get a good one i refuse to take. Nice looking tho but that does not make them reliable.

Bought mine 4 months ago. I have the U.S.M.C. edition. Very pleased with mine. Still experimenting with ammo but eats PMC very well. Carry Hornady FTX also. Waiting for 7 round mag to come in. 6 week backorder from Sig!

I have the SAS version and absolutely love mine. I havent had any flaws with it and carried mine every day up until I left for deployment last year. I am thinking about upgrading to the Kimber Solo when I get back though.

i loved mine. However for carry purposes i found it not quite what i was looking for. to shoot and to take to the range it was perfect. felt good in hand, no big kick, and very accurate. However cocked and locked in the pocket is no good, and i am not comfortable enough with carrying something with a safety. If they made one in da it would be great.

I just shot my cousin's 238 last week and I was quite impressed, pointed well, well balanced, seemed to be quite reliable, 200 rounds no issues. If I didn't already have a Mustang I would probably have bought one this week, but my old Pocketlite is still going strong.

I really like the P238. I also like 1911s to carry.

Three things I'd do if I were the "decider" at Sig USA;

1. Offer a stainless trigger like I've made and offer for sale, they could make them a heck of a lot cheaper than I can due to the economics of scale (Larger quantity). The plastic triggers have been known to fall apart on the Colts and they will on the Sigs eventually too.

2. Offer a stainless mainspring housing to replace the cheap plastic part the gun comes with. Especially for the HD model, if someone pays a premium for a stainless frame they shouldn't have any plastic parts except possibly the grip panels. I have made some arrangements to produce stainless replacements but changing the mainspring housing is considerably more difficult than changing the triggers, and some of my customers have had trouble swapping the trigger. I know I'd get frantic calls about troubles changing the MSH.

3. Produce these guns with triggers no more than 6 lbs weight, preferably 4-5 lbs.

These guns are not cheap, there is no good reason to provide them with cheap junk triggers and MSH. People who want a super light cheap .380 can buy a KelTec, but people who buy the Sig are generally looking for a fine firearm high quality firearm that will last generations.

CNC produced 416 stainless triggers to replace the plastic triggers on Colt Mustangs, Mustang Plus II's, MK IV Government .380's and Sig P238's and P938's. Plus Colt Mustang hardened 416 guide rods, and Llama .32 and .380 recoil spring buttons, checkered nicely and blued.

icedog88 - you said you have the USMC edition - I don't see that on Sig's website. Do you have a pic?

+1, I love my P238 HD (all stainless). No glitches and 500 or so rounds down range. I had the SAS model also but sold it. Ran good but I didn't need two.

I think its the best pocket 380 out there. I've had a 100% reliability in about 2,500 rounds now. Mine has night sights and wears VZ grips and a stainless steel trigger. Anyone having problems should call Sig for the newest recoil spring and magazine with the newest follower.

Im one of those that likes it but doesn't love it. I seem to have a lot of little problems that keep me from wanting to trust my life on it. This gun has showed me small 5 shot revolvers are best for me.
