Ruger SR1911: 8 Round Magazine?
In another thread, I'm seeking advice on my choice between a Colt XSE and a Dan Wesson. But this current thread is a different question.
I'm thinking about buying my son a Ruger SR1911. The only thing is, we aren't real keen on the 8 round mag for this pistol, the way it sticks way out the bottom. Are there other makes of an 8 round mag for this gun that don't stick out so much, perhaps a little more streamlined and fitting tighter to the bottom of the gun?

McCormick are very good, that's what comes factory with Kimber 1911s.
But if you get the Wilson mags you WILL NOT be disappointed. Best 1911 magazines out there, they are all I buy when I get extra mags. I like the 8 rounders with the low-pro thin aluminum floor plate. |

I use CMCs as well, great mags. Never had a FTF/E I could attribute to the mag.
Fits flush, see pic

I used Colt mags with mine and they were flush fit eight round mags that functioned perfectly for me. They were also fairly cheap. If I remember correctly I gave $12 each for them at a shop in Nashville.

I highly recommend Wilson Combat's.
Just as good are the Kimber Pro-Tac Mags, which will fit flush in most standard Government frame 1911's. They also include two base pads you can mount with included screws if needed, but they function fine either way.
