A machine to sort dirty Brass ?

by caliber - has anybody seen something out there that will sort 4 or 5 handfulls of brass into caliber specific piles ( 9mm, .40 S&W , .45 ACP etc ) when you pick up a bunch of stray stuff laying on the floor at the range ? Maybe some kind of a tumbler / or rack you could shake and sift the brass thru some grates - taking the smaller stuff out first obviously ?

Excellent solution! And I bet that if you held the bucket on top of a running vibratory cleaner that all the shaking would be done _for_ you.

Not really worth the trouble for a hand full but I built this machine for sorting brass it will sort 38 super from 9mm from 380. That’s one trick the screen type doesn’t do.

Main thing to watch out for is nested cases that don't shake out separately. They wreak havoc with decapping pins.

I understand unclenick - you're right - but this will be a first good step before I drop them into a vibrating case cleaner.

I check all the brass again after it's cleaned anyway before I put them into a "clean storage container" by caliber / but dumping a pile of brass into a vibrating case cleaner before you separate by caliber - just makes the nesting shells harder to get apart later....so that's no good either.
