New Waterfowl Loads With Hex Shot
Winchester introduces Blind Side Waterfowl Ammunition with HEX Shot.
Check out the link, what do you think -- are you going to give it a try? Image: ammoland.com http://www.ammoland.com/2011/01/14/w...wl-ammunition/ |

Shaped like that it reminds me of spreader shot -cube shaped. I wonder what the pattern is like compared to round shot.

Definately "outside the box" but I keep going back to "flat sided flyers" that we all grew up with.
With round shot they said flat spots caused by set back and poor wads caused flyers and now they want us to START with 6 flat sides!!!!!! I'm a little more than confused???? Has the Gov't taken over Winchester????? |

I recall hearing stories of the old Russian (USSR) International Skeet shooters having special cheater loads with cubical shot that they used at Station-8. Supposedly it vaporized targets at close range. How this translates to a killer waterfowl load, I don't have a clue. Perhaps Winchester's steel HEX pellets are magnetized, and that helps keep the pattern tight.

It says you get *up to* 15% more shot pellets in a shell.
Found this: http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/...nd-side-shells Apparently it has a Flite Control style wad and is claimed to pattern similarly to lead shot. |
