Pulled bullets?

Trying to feed my new Garand, looks like RVOW is out of business? Any other recommendations where I can get inexpensive projectiles? I'd consider casting lead, but concerned about buildup and feeding issues.

Do not fire lead in a barrel with gas ports, especially a garand.

NOT TRUE:

I've fired thousands of cast bullets in a Garand and M1As. To keep in shape for HP, I shot cast bullets in both rifles in indoor ranges at 50Ft NRA targets. Never a problem.

I use to have an old NRA American Rifle Mag, that had an article about shooting, I believe, "OO" buck shot as gallery loads in M1s. I have a couple of old reloading manuals (Sharp is one, I forgot the others) that give reduced cast loads for M1s.

Also the Army use to issue Sub Cal devices for M-16s, using 22s which didnt hurt the gas system.

I dont know how many CNGB rifle matches I've shot, using the sub-cal device, at 50 yards on the same targets your Appleseed shoots, I even won a trip (my NG Unit) to Nashville to compete with other states using the sub-cals.

Its an old wives tail that you cant shoot cast bullets in Gas guns, INCLUDING THE M1 & M1A's.

Keep to normal cast bullet velocities (about 900 - 1100 FPS) for indoor shooting, I've shoot both gas checks and non-gas checks depending on what the gun likes.

Shoot your cast bullets ( they wont work the action), at close ranges, its an excellant means of in-expensive practice.

Yup. If you are worried about lead splatter into the port, as can happen if you load the lead up warm enough, shoot bullets with gas checks. They stop it completely.

Thanks, I just placed an order at Polygunbags. Wish I could afford more than 500 but it will do for now.
