GRAF & SON
What kind of experience can I expect from Graf's Black Powder? Anyone use their 3F in particular. I've used Goex and Swiss, prefer the Goex but could not really tell you why. Graf's has their BP on sale right now and when I add up their price, handling fee (they pay shipping), and the hazmat fee it still comes out to about half what I pay locally for a 1LB can. Would have to get at least 3 lbs to get down to that price but quantity is not real issue. Quality is important, so is it worth making the effort or not?

Grafs powder is as good or better than Goex. When I need Powder I usually buy according to price and get Goex, Grafs, or Scheutzen; whichever is on sale at the time.

I think that folks have reported that Graf's seems to be the same as Shuetzen powder.

Thanks guys for the reply. I think I just read somewhere the Schuetzen actually private labels for Graf. Believe I'll give it a try and perhaps mix the order between the two and see if I can tell the difference. Don't have the most decerning palate so it would be a very uneducated comparison.

I haven't tried the Graff BP but did buy some Elephant brand from them many years ago for about $6 a can. I will say they are super nice people to deal with. They will jump through hoops to make you happy.
Have a look at this place for powder. The price includes the shipping and hazmat. I always make the 25 pound buy and then sell a few cans to my BP buddies because 25lbs is more than I need for a long time. http://www.powderinc.com/ The last time I bought from them the powder cost me a little under $10 a pound. I still have several pounds left. If you do buy the Grafs powder report back how you like it. I bet its good stuff. |

I have used both the Graf 3f and Schuetzen 3f powders and I like them both for their performance and price. Two years ago I purchased 25 pounds of Schuetzen from Upper Missouri Trading Co. for $10.75/pd which included the HazMat and freight charges. You have to call them for pricing because they don't post this on their site. My experience with Graf and Sons and Upper Missouri Trading have been good.
