an old 1960's 12ga war horse...

first generation Remington 870 Wingmaster. This one belonged to a good friend of mine's wife's father. He's just dumping all his guns other than a HD 357. This one is sweet with just enough patina and faded bluing. Also rare 30" barrel with full choke. Make a good trap gun...

Don't just ride that fine old war horse to the trap range. I had lots of fun with its older sibling on barn and quarry pigeons, a fair number of ringnecks and so on.

Number Six here, made in 1955, looks just like that.....

beautiful shotgun. my favorite 870 is the old Wingmaster. i've got a pristine (1965) Wingmaster (Brushmaster model) with 20" Brushmaster" barrel and factory rifle sights. it sat in a collector's safe it's entire life until i bought it this past year.

i hope you were able to get the Wingmaster you're showing; hope it's yours now.

He's offering you a fair price on the gun for $ 200 ...don't hesitate on it.

Full choke is a little tight for my preference ..but you can shoot 1oz load of 9's in for Trap at 16 yards ...and it'll open up the pattern a little more ...

Pretty cool wingmaster Slugo. Mine is a 1955 wingmaster i picked up last year for $50.00 in lightly used 1 owner condition. I knew it was pretty old so I ran it thru the 1-800-243-9700 ext.7 Remington s/n checker and was excited to hear how old it was but the gentleman at Remington was more excited than i was. I sent him some pics he asked for. A real lover of shotguns.

I have a mid 70s Wingmaster with a 30" full choke barrel. I bought a new barrel for it 2 years ago so I could use steel shot as I got tired of not using it for waterfowl. In my view a decent older Wingmaster is still worth more than the newer Express models.

Older, yes.

First generation... I don't think so. I don't know how Remington ran the serial number ranges on 870s, so I can't go from that. But unless the wood has been changed out, it isn't 'right' for a really old gun- they didn't do impressed checkering on the early guns. And the oldest 870 I ever saw had a 'divot' on the right side of the forearm to clear the ejection port, but didn't have a matching one on the left side, and the forearm was ribbed, not checkered.

it's the deluxe grade wood on this one, not the plain non-checkered bee hive design. I got it for $150 even...

I bought an old OLD wingmaster "warhorse" back about 12 years ago, factory Remington folding stock. It was a police trade-in, and the pistol grip was cracked. I threw the folder away or sold it for almost nothing, can't remember, replaced the wood, and gave it to my pops for his birthday a couple years ago. Its butter smooth and just feels so good! Love the old ones!
