Just puchaced a box of 185.gr lead swc Star is the brand name.I find load data in my manuals Speer#13 & Hodgdon for 185.gr jacketed but not for lead. I will be using Win. 231 for powder. Any one have load info for this, I know I could probably start .1 gr lower than what is called for in the jacketed load but thought I would see if any one has a recipe.
Thanks in advance!!

Winchester lists a load for a 180gr lswc

5.3 of 231 to max of 6.3
Velocity 885fps to 1020
15,333psi to 20,000
you can download the load manual from winchester at:
http://www.winchester.com

IMR has a load for the 185gr lswc if you want that let me know.

I scanned the .45ACP section of the IMR manual and emailed it to you.

mm27:

For general plinking and paper shooting I load 5.6gr of Win231 with 180gr SWC bullets. With once fired Federal brass and Winchester LP primer this load will shoot under 2" from my Kimber and Sig220. Velocity will run around 880 fps from 5" barrel pistol and recoil is mild.

I guess I'm running a milder load than anybody here. I like the accuracy of the light loads and the light recoil.

I'm currently pushing a 185gr D&J lswc with 4.3 gr. of W231 with an OAL of 1.252. This gives about 700 fps in my Kimber Government (5")...This is a delight to shoot if all you do is ventilate paper. A 12 lb recoil spring is required for proper cycling. There are shooters who use even lighter loads, but this is as low as I'm going.
