NRA-ILA Emergency Legislative Action Survey

All,

You should be receiving an e-mail, from the NRA-ILA, for a new survey titled the, "Emergency Legislative Action Survey", and it asks whether you are for or against federal and state bills, now pending, that the gun-grabbers are trying to push through, and counter the fake polls, along with the tall tales by Obama, Biden, Feinstein, and Bloomberg. Everyone should answer this, with a vote of "oppose", on each and every one. Plus, when reading, some bills you will be shocked to find out their context, especially in the states.

To see it, look here:

Filled out mine last night. Some of these are rather "off the wall" proposals.

This is no better than the slanted polls taken elsewhere. The only people who are going to fill out this survey are gun people, and it'll be ignored.

The point is, when antis claim that the NRA leaders are extremists who don't represent the attitudes of their membership, they can say "we asked our members and this is what they said."

That, and to solicit donations.

NJgunowner,

No, what is being claimed, by the gun-grabbers, is that a good number of the NRA members are wanting these bills, according to the Obama administration, and Bloomberg, and this is to catch them in their tall tale. That is why it is important for all NRA members to vote on it.

Well stated, Dixie.

I would go one further... Even if you aren't a member of the NRA, take the poll, they can use non-member stats just as well to counter the frivolous claims of the left.

It does help. I took it too and would encourage others to do so.

I took the poll, but I was disappointed to see that the wording was so blatantly biased -- just in case anyone reading the poll was on the fence about any of these questions, they were written in a way that was guaranteed to stir up anger and opposition.
  • ... provide public funding for anti-gun "research" activities with your tax dollars?
  • ... make you show "good cause" for getting a carry permit?
  • ... red tape for all ammunition purchases?
  • ... a costly requirement that has been proven useless in solving crimes, and which would effectively ban all firearms currently on the market today?
It's so obviously slanted that no one other than the "faithful" will take it seriously.

Right. Let's remember that this is a game of numbers. We have to refute the 90% myth, and a large enough number of responses will go somewhat towards that. It also helps counter the myth that the rank-and-file membership are amenable to new restrictions.

I agree that they could have laid off the rhetoric just a hair, though.

I hate to say this - but such surveys are fund raising mechanisms. I get them from other organizations and they all have some outrageous statement to charge you up. Not good survey design.

Then, they ask you for some money. Look at ones from the GOP, Democrats, Save the whatever?

All use the same pitch. Real survey research is not done like this.

I know this, and I don't care. It doesn't purport to be high social science, but it's far more accurate than the anti's wild claims of overwheling NRA member support for their boondoggles.

I was happy to be reminded to cut loose a bit of change, which I did.

I know - but just trying to explain the process. Personally, I find Joe Biden as a more motivating fund raiser.

Hold your nose, stomach the hyperbole, and take the survey - just as Dixie said, to show that the claims that the NRA leadership does not represent NRA membership are so much bunk.

Otherwise, we let our distaste for hyperbole cause us to allow "the Big Lie."
