Your favorite Mil-Surp Bolt Action

Original Sights Please. My #3 choice is my 91/30 mosin nagant. My #2 choice is my US Model 1917. AAAAND MY #1 CHOICE IS my Turk mauser cuz I paid so little for it [$69] and it so easily accurate. On my list the K-31's-Enfield's-Mas 36's just dont hold the mo-jo. Each to their own.

The only one I own is a 1943 MN 91/30 which I bought because of cheap ammo. I enjoy shooting it, but I quickly get tired of having to manhandle that darn bolt.

My favorite is the SMLE No 4 Mk 1. I would love to own one if I could find one in reasonable condition and find a cheap source of .303 ammo. An ugly rifle to be sure, but I believe it was the very best of the military bolt guns.

Well if we are doing top 3,

3) M44 Mosin-Nagant

2) 03-A3 Smith Corona factory.

1) M48 Serbian Mauser. Just like a K98k but didn't suffer though a epic conflict. (history is cool but my M48 looks like it is brand new.)

Willie, why the Smith-Corona in particular?

I would choose an 03-A3 myself

I own a M44 Russian and a K-31 Swiss. Out of the two, the Swiss is by far my favorite. Accurate, fun to shoot and I love the straight pull on the bolt. Very cool rifle.

The Russian is great for what it is and fun it its own right, but it is rather clunky compared to the K-31.

My favorite is hands down my Enfield sporter. The .303 is a great deer round and these can be scooped up for less than $100 any day of the week.

I have Mosin Models 31-90, 38 and 44. Also a couple of K-98's, a Steyr, K-31 and an M-1 Garand. The K-31 is by far my favorite, without a doubt, the best engineered and highest manufacturing standards of the bolties. I am looking for an Enfield and also a 6.5 Swede...
Compared to the K-31, the Mosins are like clubs...

I've got to chime in and go with...

The M48 Yugo Mauser because it's cheap, ammos cheap, and it's a tad above "competent"(actually a little more accurate than the K98, but probably because the bore is in good shape)

The K31... it would be number 1 if the M48 wasn't so cheap to own/shoot.

I have to give a nod to the good ole 1903 springfield just because I'm American. If they were cheap (which one would think that they should be), It would probably rank higher. Cheap will only get you so far with guns though. Mosins are awesome and I love them, but the quality just isn't there compared to these rifles IMHO. (Still doesn't keep me from owning one and loving it)

My favs are;

1) 03A3 - it's just soooo accurate,
2) 03A3 Sporterized - sooo acurate, but it was bubba'd.
3) 8mm Turkish Mauser - so cool, so old, just amazing (1.5" @ 100)
4) M44 Mosin-Nagant - just kool, but kicks like a mule.

Mines

Mine is my carl gustov 1903 Swedish Mauser, It has the original diopter sight still, but either someone cut the barrell down to 20" or the it's the carbine version. Someone also cut down the stock as well. The front sight looks like it's the original though, so I'm not sure.

This one:

1944 Russian M-44. Absolutely love this weapon. It's a hoot to shoot and never fails to get a dropped jaw response from others at the range. Don't know why aside from the fact it's LOUD as hell and shoots a 6' long fireball.

I'm probably going to be one of the odd guys, mostly because it just barely rates as Mil-Surplus, but my favorite right now is a Ishapore 2A1 that was butchered into a 'jungle gun' by the importer.

Right now it wears a polymer stock, scout scope and has 3 working 12-round magazines.

I'm torn between 3:
1896 Swedish Mauser
1909 Argentine Mauser
1912 Chilean Mauser

They make my 1917s, SMLEs, 1903s, A3s and 98Ks seem crude

Enfield (what a great design)
Mauser (I consider the Springfield a subset of that)

Mil Surp bolt

Given the requirement of original sights, Id have to pick the 'O3-A3 mostly because of its fully adjustable receiver sights. But for strength, quality of build and smoothness of action I'd pick the German made 98K mauser.
Swedes are nice, but a more dated design than the 98.

I have only one milsurp bolt--in fact, my only milsurp rifle of any kind. It's an Ishapore 2A1, an Enfield Mark III in .308 Winchester. A little heavy in the foreend, but a damn fine shooter.

Wow! Some good choices there.
I'd have to go with a Spanish Guardia Civil FR-8 Mauser chambered in 7.62 NATO.

1. 1898 30-40 Krag Jorgensen slickest bolt of them all
2. Mk4 mod1 Enfield

I probably like it best because it's mine (though I have shot a few others), but nonetheless, the Russian M44. A ton of fun to shoot, rather handy when it comes to size, and extremely solid construction. It's the gun I've spent the least on and what I got out of it is worth at least 3 times what I paid.
