I prefer 124gr +P... but many like the 147gn.

Heavier does hold a consistency advantage as far as amount of penetration, but I feel personally that it is a little too heavy for the 9mm... but thats just me.

I didn't see what they loaded it with, most use Gold Dots. I do not have a lot of info on the Grizzly brand... I think I heard one or two favorable mentions of it though.

I've tried it in a suppressed 9mm AR, and it was accurate... but I suspect you want to know how it runs through a typical pistol... yes?

I looked up the price for this stuff from Grizzly, and it's 2 bucks cheaper than Midway, but I imagine Grizzly's shipping costs are higher... yes?

It's good stuff, this is one of the ammunitions I tested when I was trying to duplicate some high performance 147 grain ammo, If memory serves I took some apart and I think they are Hornaday XTP bullets, I could be wrong about that I can't find my notes at the moment.

As far as accuracy, They shot fantastic out of my Beretta 92, M9, and a Taurus PT92AF, they were more accurate than any 124 grain SD ammo with less recoil.

I too like a heavier round in 9mm (I know some disagree and go the other direction 115gr etc...). Yet, I read good and bad reviews concerning the 147gr ammo and I always desired something a bit heavier than the standard NATO 124gr. Presto, Hornady released earlier this year what I consider to be a virtual panacea for my dilemma, namely, their 9MM 135 gr FlexLock Critical DUTY. Have a look and see what you think.

Other than offering a modest gain in velocity (RA9T goes 990 fps, P9HST4 goes 1050 fps), I don't think that the +P 147s bring very much to the table. Sure, having the extra 50-60 fps can't hurt, but I've seen standard pressure 147s run that fast (depends on the gun since ammo is loaded to pressure, not velocity) and the effect is simply not that much greater. That extra 50-60 fps might get you another 1/2" to 1" of penetration- it's just not that much in the grand scheme of things.

Don't get me wrong- I like the 147s in the 9mm and carry 'em all the time. So long as you don't delude yourself into thinking that they (the +Ps) are capable of more than they are, I say have at it and carry 'em.

I firmly believe in Using the heaviest round your pistol will reliably cy me in any given caliber. For my 9MMs that's a 147gr round. Penetration is a requirement, and in any given caliber heavier goes deeper.

It won't make the gun more lethal, all the real world shootings say that.

If you like it for some reason any 147 SD ammo works as does the 124s.

It will take anywhere from 1 shot (well thats as few as you can get) up to 15 or more to kill someone with any of it.

By the way, thats true of all pistols up through 44 magnum.

Nothing wrong with the 147gr +p loads. If you like it roll with it. That said, that price is STEEP for 20 rounds. I'd go with either the Underwood round above or the HST 147gr rounds at the link below ($25 for 50 rounds).

I believe some pistols will not feed the 147gr properly either... some may need re-throated.

+p level 147gr XTP's knock pins down better than anything else I've tried out of my EMP ..... spendy though.

I like 124's for carry.
