XDS carry: where?

XDS is on my short list for 2013. So I'm planning a head for holsters as well.
If you carry an XDS how do you usually carry?

I haven't started carrying mine yet, but when I do it will be in my pocket inside a Desantis Nemesis holster.

Lately I have been carrying mine in the provided holster that came with it. I also have a quality, local maker IWB. It is super concealable, but not quite as comfy as the paddle holster it came with..and I don't really like paddle holsters.

I haven't made up my mind, but Crossbreed is on my list to get soon.

I've been carrying mine 2 months now, using the ETW leather holster iwb from eBay for $45 shipped, it's specifically molded for the XDS custom fit and very comfy. As for defensive ammo, Winchester PDX1 bonded 230 grain jhp can't be beat for $24 for a box of 20. 2x 7 round mags for backup + 1x 5 round mag primary + 1 in the chamber.

Good Luck...

I have been using a Barsony OWB holster for my Shield at the 4 o'clock position. When I go IWB, I use the Desantis super tuck. Both work great for me.

I don't own one but I've fondled them on numerous occasion. I would most likely use a Comptac paddle holster.

Here is an IWB similar to a Crossbread, for less money.
Well made, I find mine to be very comfortable.

I've tried the kydex/leather holsters for two different pistols and they just never feel 100% correct. One was a Crossbreed, the other Old Faithful Stage 3 kit. Honestly, the stage 3 kit (now called quick assemble kit) from Old Faithful is what these types of holsters should cost and assembly is quite easy, plus you can just replace the shell cheap instead of the entire holster for a new gun.

The kydex is slightly thicker and better quality than a Crossbreed IMHO.

I've found though that all leather with loops instead of clips are more comfortable and easier on my belt all while staying put. I'd highly suggest this type from Winthrop.

For the last 7 months, mine has rode in a bearcreekholsters.com IWB daily. My new Milt Sparks VMII should be here soon.

I have 2 SHTF Holsters, one for a Sig P290 and another for a Springfield Tactical... Both are extremely comfortable and include features such a Kevlar stitching. The P290 just seems to disappear and the XD you know is there because its a very big gun but its still very comfortable.

I understand Crossbreed is very similar but I don't know if they offer the same or better touches.

While I don't have the XD series, I do carry a Ultra Compact .45 1911 from S.A. and I use to carry it on my hip all the time at the 3 O-Clock position. However, it was always hard to conceal the shape of the pistol when wearing short sleeved shirts and such. So I started carrying it at the 6 O-Clock position in the small of my back. Due to the natural curvature of my back and such, my shirts drape over the pistol making it only noticeable when I bend over and either the shirt lifts up revealing it or pulls tight showing its outline.

HBE Pro TL, rough side out, with spare magazine carrier .
I put it on at 6:30 AM this morning, as I had a road trip planned, and didn't take it or the mag carrier off till 5:30 PM.
Never once got uncomfortable.
I wear his Pro TLs at 4:30
I tried to post a picture, but the file size is 6 meg, and too large for this board.....?
Any easy way to reduce file sizes?
** Thanks Doofus47!

thanks for the advice. I'm glad that there are lots of choices available.
czguy,
I use windows7 pro mostly. What I do to reduce my file size is double click on the picture; it opens in windows photo viewer. I then choose the email option. It let's you choose the size you want to send. Then I right click on the icon in the email window that pops up. There's probably an easier way to do it, but that's how I figured out first how to do it.

I carry mine (bitone model) in front right pocket, in either a Desantis Nemesis or a Blackhawk #4 pocket holster (also fits my Glock 27). I recently added a Hogue Jr. grip (trimmed for the grip safety) because the rough grip texture was rubbing my leg a little raw (in jeans, anyway). Carry load presently is Corbon DPX (found good price on a box at local GS), after that will likely be Hornady CD or Remington GS.

I don't have a XDS but do have a Walther PPS which is close in size to the Springfield and I currently carry it in one of two ways. The method I prefer most often is at 8 o'clock in a Desantis OWB three slot holster (I'm left handed).

The other way is with a High Noon holster called the Mr Softy. I usually carry it about 6:30.

Both methods work pretty well for me and those compact guns are quite easy to carry and conceal. Witt the right holster and belt, they are comfortable too.

I really like the holster that came with my XDs. No problems, comfortable, and it works great.
