Best $600 AK on the market?
I sadly missed the OPAPs. I scored an NPAP which I really like.
What are the best $500-600 AKs on the market today. I'd like to pick up a new one. I prefer wood furniture, but it's not a deal breaker. |

I'm still seeing OPAPs and NPAPs in shops around here. Are you looking for another one, or looking into different flavors?

How about one of those Hungarian amd's? The 63 has wood furniture. Out of everything I'm seeing under $600 this is def the most unique looking one. I haven't shot one before but I'm sure they shoot like any ak shoots

Picked up a WASR. But now I'm hungry for another AK.
Any deals or new rifles out there, like the Century Arms RAS47 http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.as...fle&groupid=11 |

I think the AMD-65's from TGI are the best deals out there now. They have FEG receivers and the original Hungarian 12.5 barrels. They are surprisingly accurate.

I'll second Ronl. My AMD65 will hit steel at 200 all day long. I'm 60 and that's with iron sights and tri-focal lenses. I can only imagine what someone with good eyes could do with it.
Very well made to boot. It's one rifle I'll not part with. |

I'd say WASR is your best bet.

Sounds like you have rifles that fit the need.
I would buy ammo, shoot them, and modify from there. My WASR I redid into a military AKM pattern with a Polish bulged laminated forend. The other ones have minor modifications like US palm pistol grips and Kreb safeties. A whole new rifle isn't always necessarily the best option.

well lc, the best AKM for around $600 would be a WASR 10/63, unlike the Serbian AKs, you can customize a WASR a lot easier and cheaper than a OPAP or NPAP.

Well I binged.
Why buy just 1 when you live in America and can buy many...? I'm going to find out for myself. I picked up an OPAP, new WASR, and a new RAS47 by Century. Came in around $1800 for all 3 with taxes, shipping, transfers, etc. (The WASR was lightly used, and came with $200 in extras). So far pretty happy with the cosmetics. No real issues yet to report, but have yet to shoot them. Noted the RAS47 has a really stiff rear sight elevating adjuster and doesn't have a bayo lug or cleaning rod, and the OPAP has no bayo lug. All seem to be tight and excellent builds. Nothing feels cheap on these. No canted sights, the mags fit tight, the rivets are done professionally, etc. |

Where can I find one of these AMD-65s? They look awesome, and I need a blaster to shoot all my 7.62x39mm since I don't have a gun (or won't soon) that shoots said ammo.

Model12Win, the FEG AMD-65s tend to be hard to find and sometimes command a premium on the secondary market, much like MAK-90s.
