Saw my first Tri-Star pistol yesterday,,,

Saw my first Tri-Star yesterday,,,
A young lady who schlepps beer to me,,,
Just received one as a 21st B-day gift from her Father.

If I didn't know better I would swear,,,
It's a CZ-75B compact in disguise.

Am I correct thinking it's a Turk made Canik,,,
Imported by Tri-Star?

I didn't have the time last night for a careful comparison,,,
But at first look it does seem like it was cloned from my CZ-75B.

Anyways, I'm making her a range holster for it,,,
Something she can wear and be stylish,,,
It's not a pistol she will carry.

I'm thinking SteamPunk Tactical,,,
With an Egyptian decorative motif to it.

Re: Saw my first Tri-Star pistol yesterday,,,

I think I looked at a Tri-Star a couple months ago and it had a Canik logo on the grips. It sure looked just like a C75B too.

Yeah that's the word on the street. My Dad has one, I only put a couple mags through it, but I really like it. It shoots pretty nice. Small size but pretty heavy being all metal and what not. It even comes with two Mec Gar mags, seems a pretty good deal for a decent gun.

C100 is a CZ Compact clone. Shoots well and a great value for under $400. I've put around 500 rounds down range and haven't had a hiccup yet. Most people that shoot it are pleasantly surprised as well.

I snapped a quick picture,,,

Here it is beside my standard plain Jane CZ-75B,,,
There are differences but one can tell where the design came from.

Anything I make for my CZ should fit the Tri-Star,,,
Taking into account the difference in length of course.

FWIW it's been widely reported that the internal design of the Canik55 is closer to a Tanfoglio TA-series aka EAA Witness, which admittedly are variations of the CZ 75 design themselves.

BTW the name of the manufacturer is Canik55. The number "55" is an integral part of the company's name- it's not some sort of peculiar suffix on the Tristar pistols, and there is no space after the "k". (IIRC American Rifleman published an explanation of what the "55" signifies, but I've forgotten what it was. )

BTW Tristar also markets the Canik55 T-series, which is supposedly similar to the C-series internally, but is cosmetically closer to a CZ P-01 or a Tanfo with a rail.

And to throughly confuse it all, Canik55 also sells a pistol through Century called a Stingray. Canik55 names it a Shark or something similar. The Stingray C also uses the same Mecgar mags from Tristar that fit their T-100 and C-100 pistols. The stingray is all steel, hard chromed, ambi controls ans has adjustable Tritium enhanced sights. $379 and probably the best buy I ever made in a handgun. Great quality and flawless function and very accurate. The Tristar C-100 and T-100 have steel slides with alloy frames. All of the Canik55 handguns are great buys for the money.

I recently handled a satin chrome Canik clone of the full size 75B, and was VERY impressed.

Yeah, their naming of models leaves a lot to be desired I feel. I just got lost in the previous post regarding the models. I'd like to get one and I'm kicking myself for not getting one when my Dad got his as my money was a little better than it is now. Plus, it looks like their prices went up from just a couple months ago. Looks like the cat is out of the bag on this one.

A friend bought two of these Canik55 made guns, one was the S-120 which is as far as I can tell, a pretty close copy of a CZ-75 or early Witness, and the other one is a T-120, which appears to be a non ported version of the Canik Shark FC, which is an alloy framed Baby Eagle copy. Both of his are chromed and look and shoot great. My Tanfoglio "Mossad" fullsized gun and the steel framed Canik feel almost identical and shoot that way too. Bud's has the S-120 75 clone for $325 on GB. I can barely resist that deal, but if they put the Shark or the T-120( Why the full sized shark is ported in 9mm, but the compact isn't?) for anything close to that, I won't be able to keep from pulling the trigger on it. These guns are a great deal. The Tristar version of the Shark is non ported, but kind of hard to find.
