How much are you guys shooting that you need to pick up 5 and 10,000 primers at once?
I didn't invest in several thousand dollars worth of reloading equipment to collect dust nor to shoot 50 rounds a month. This isn't only a hobby for us...

The crazy thing about this shortage is I did't even know we had one, till I needed small pistol primers.:barf: I have a 9mm and 45acp just got the 45, I belong to a private range. I was going to start the bulls eye matches, but now I am thinking what is the point. I started loading last December and back then I had the money to stock pile but didn't. Now down to my last 500 primers I normally keep 500 round of 9mm and 45acp. I shoot every weekend with my wife and friends. That soon will come to an end, guess I will have to start making more beer. my second hobby is making homemade beer. Untill our government starts talking about cutting that back as well.

Ummm... you guys want to know where all the primers and certain propellants are?

1. Hoarding...
2. RECORD ammo sales....all that ammo takes primers and powder also.

Sorry about being so blunt...but...

Good luck! Anybody that has any either won't part with them, at least not without a fight, or will charge about triple+ of their typical value. My best suggestion (at least from my personal experience) is to go ahead and place a backorder with one of those online vendors you mentioned. If you wait to see them in stock online, you'll have a long wait, as they have backorders they fill first as soon as they arrive. I placed a backorder online about a month or so ago for 15,000 CCI primers (at a decent price, even with the hazmat fee), and got them in about 3-weeks.

Might try these guys, at least the shopping cart does not come up as out of stock. Their going to gun shows so one would think they still have stock.

We find them at our LGS on rare occasions. One day maybe the market will calm down.

Right......and maybe Hillary will see the light and not blame us for Mexican violence either.....

primer cost update

Scheel's All Sports:
Pistol primers small and large.
Last week $26.99 per K:
This week $39.99 per K:
The guy in the reloading dept. said thier cost is going way up.
He said brass is going to double in price.
Two weeks ago I paid $18.99 per hundred for 38 Super brass, it is now $34.99.
this is getting serious boys, I think we need a boycot!!.

I think it's just gouging. Three weeks ago Powder Valley had some CCI instock and I got 1k Large Rifle for 22.50 and 1k Large Rifle Mag for 24.50. Primers are very scarce and some retailers are taking advantage of it.

I dont think much of Scheels, there a good place to throw away your money. It would be nice if everyone would just stop buying any componets for a month. I know it would not work people will keep paying the higher price. As long as we pay they will raise it. There is no doubt about that.

Part of the problem is some distributers are only shipping 25 at a throw...and so gotta distribute the cost of shipping over smaller # increases the price. Plus most distrubutors are not giving a discount for buying 5K sleeves....so...that makes the price increase.

I agree, I'm not going to buy any reloading components the rest of the year unless prices go down. Seriously,

I'm differant. I said when I retired I was gonna spend a lot more time shooting.

I refuse to let the rising cost of powder and primers stop me. After 45 years of shooting and reloading I have most of the brass I need. I cast most of my bullets. That keeps my cost down.

Regardless, I"m not about to give us shooting. If I have to pay $50 per K of primers, I'm gonna shoot.

Do I hord, maybe, depends on what you call hording, I like to start the HP season with enough components for matchs and practice. So I do stock up in the winner.

I figure is I'm gonna carry a pistol for self protection, then I should practice with it, as much possible. A min. of 200 rounds a week. Thats not counting my Bullseye Pistols.

I live 80 miles from the nearest major town that sells components. Yeap you bet when I go to town I stock up.

If thats hording, SUE ME

It's nothing more than gouging, look at Midway and Graf and Sons, there prices have not changed albeit they are out of everything.Orders will be filled eventually with no price increases.

5 threads have been merged to form a single thread. I've also "stickied" this thread, so there is no excuse for opening another duplicate thread.

Sheesh... You would think this was a thread over in the L&CR forum!

I never thought I'd see the day when my little stash of reloading supplies would be so valuable.

Where are the primers? - Merged Threads

BillCarey from Florida on this forum indicated he has seen no shortage of primers at gunshows in Florida. Maybe you need to get in touch with him!!!
