Zastava Arms M70/M85
Does anyone have experience with these rifles? I'm a fan of the Mauser action and these seem like a less expensive alternative to sporterizing and rebarreling an old military Mauser. They are also quite a bit less than the "Mauser-esque" Winchester Model 70 or Ruger 77. I also like the idea of the M85 "mini-mauser" in .22 hornet. I realize that most of the time you get what you pay for but I was just wondering if these rifles might be an exception to that rule

They are a true commercial M98 rifle. Zastava M98's were imported as Interarms Mark X for a number of years, and then as the Remington 798 series.
The barrel steel was reported soft on a number of 375 H&H models, and fit and finish are not always perfect, but they are serviceable rugged hunting rifles. Jimro

Anywhere from 300 to 500 for the standard or mini-mauser depending on who is doing the selling. The 375 H&H models usually go for 700 or a bit more. If the wood was really nice I might go as high as 600 for a standard caliber.
What caliber are you looking for? Jimro

Well it says on their site they still make one in 6mm remington. Thats what I'd like to find but they are probably scarce. I'd about bet nobody would have a 6mm in stock. It would be worth the wait to me if it could be ordered though. I don't know of any other new rifle offered in 6mm.
I may check into availability before I get my heart too set on it. .264 win mag is also listed on their site. That would be my second choice. I tend to like the semi-oddball stuff for some reason. I don't want what everybody else has.

Here's a pic of the M70PSS (polymer stock stainless)
This is probably the model I would want its far from an old German military rifle but it still shares the basic action design that has stood the test of time.

Century International doesn't list that model in it's storefront. I guess you could try the other US importer "Fime Group"
Fime Group Llc 4395 West Post Road Unit 200 Las Vegas, Nevada 89118, Usa [email protected] Hope this helps. Jimro
