Harlem Shop Keeper Kills Two, Wounds Two

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32426383...rts/?GT1=43001

Interesting article. The guy used an unlicensed shotgun in New York City. Will he get the same treatment as Plaxico Burress?

Wow. And all without being injured himself. He and his employees are alive and all it cost him was a 20 year old shotgun.

Someone buy that man another shotgun!

If he solicited donations he would probably be able to afford a dozen.

Believe it or not, I read about this shooting in our local newspaper (prolly the anti's wanted to prove how bad guns are)

Sorry, but my thoughts are, those mothers that now dont have sons, should have taught thier sons not to steal, then they would still have sons.

The shop keeper was not only defending himself & his business, but most importantly, his employees from iminent harm.... he should be nominated for "Boss of the year" in my opinion...... If I were a shotgun manufacturer or big gun shop chain owner, I would be giving him the pick of my shop, I reckon (I would be hiding the REALLY expensive ones tho)

Good on him, I reckon......

Criminals.... LEARN.... stealing brings bad Ju-Ju Get a real job

At least one update says he DID do all the paperwork 20 years ago, and for a shotgun (as opposed to a handgun!) didn't need to re-do it. So he's completely legal.

Doesn't mean NYPD will give his shotgun BACK mind you...but he's not looking at the crossbar hotel.

Amazingly, New York authorities released one the 4 robbers ( who was the least seriously wounded ) out of jail on $60,000 bail Sunday.

See these web pages for details:

Here is a photo of NY City Police Officer's seizing Augusto's Winchester shotgun for evidence:

Seems strange how the laws favor the bad guy ain't it??!

Same here in Oz... it depends entirely on how much lawyer you are packing

The world is becoming so corrupt and immoral that it is unbelievable.

Later today the British will release one of the Lockerbie 747 bombers from prison, on "humanitarian" grounds.

259 Americans died on the plane, and another 11 Scots died on the ground in Lockerbie from the bomb he planted.

Cannot people tell the difference between good and evil anymore??

A good reminder on what an outstanding self-defense tool the shotgun is. One good guy armed with a shotgun against four bad guys with handguns. Superior mindset coupled with superior firepower ruled the day.

I wonder what kind of ammo he had the gun loaded with? Birdshot? Buckshot?

Those scumbags got what they deserved! The other 2 low lifes that survived are lucky their not taking a dirt nap right now! Gus is a true American Patriot in my opinion. Give that man back his Shotgun!

Please keep the "they got what they deserved" comments down. I may agree with you but threads get closed that way. It's a good thing the innocents came out ok. Keep in mind that just because one man was able to pull off an incredible save with a shotgun that doesn't mean you will. Train, seek professional training and spend more money shooting than you do buying new toys. Unless your rich

I don't agree that one shotgun is superior to four handguns.
The lads clearly weren't expecting the gentleman's response. That worked to Gus' advantage.
So how come the two breathing boys were not charged with homicide? They would here in California.

The article says they won't file charges. When they start pistol whipping your employees, it's time to get the shotgun. He did the right thing.

How we behave as gun owners is important. Posturing and threatening does not serve us well in the public eye.

Agreed. I was actually about 10 blocks from where it happened (construction management working at a jobsite). The one thing about NYC is that it has a lot of "grandfather laws". With the age and amount of history around here, it's very hard to "change" everything to bring it up to today's standards...with everything ranging from zoning laws and fire alarms to what you see here being gun laws. Anyway, good job lad, textbook example of why you keep a shotgun for 20 years and people say "you've had it for 20 years and you've never needed it once...". Well, one day he did, and he was ready.

Police said Augusto didn't have a required permit for the weapon used in the headline-grabbing shooting the Daily News called a "Pump-Action Ending."
This statement puzzled me the most. Who ever heard of a shotgun permit? I think the laws of NY are responsible for a lot of good men being unable to legally defend themselves.

He handled that shotgun well for not having trained with it since he bought it 20 years ago
