Are there any benefits to using an extra power firing pin in either a 1911 or a P35?

with +p loads in 9mm or .45acp having a extra
power firing pin spring CAN prevent slam
fires.

It's a good idea to change the firing pin spring if you put in a heavier recoil spring.

Most extra power recoil springs come with extra power FP springs. Even if I was running a 16# recoil spring (factory) in my 1911's, I'd use extra power FP springs, just because.
