AP bullets with pull marks

I bought some 163 gr. AP bullets in 30 cal.

I have always assumed (but never seen it written) that I can use these bullets in a 30-06 and 7.62 NATO. Is this correct? They are both the same cabiler, just different chamberings.

Also, these bullets nave pull marks on them. I think they are USGI surp. from WWII or Korea. Is it safe to fire these rounds with the pull marks?

I have never reloaded, but I get paid tomorrow, and I want to get a Lee press, maybe save some more and get a RCBS. What do I compare the 163 gr. AP round to for reloading data? Does anyone have this data? Will this data change based upon the manufacturer of the press?

It only takes a few pounds of pressure to iron out the pull marks.

For a .308, get some 4895, and start at the MINIMUM published load for a 165 grainer.

Are you suggesting doing this by hand? Or are you saying that simply firing the bullets is fine and that is should not be worried about?

Shoot the dang things... I wouldn't use 'em in a match, but they're fine for plinking.

Just work up your load, and don't go for max pressure, since some of 'em will require more pressure than others due to the deformities.

If those marks are like the minor ones on most pulled bullets and the same as the pull marks on some Cal. 30 AP that I have don't sweat em, just shoot em.

for the 30-06 I use 45 grains of a NON-CANISTER surplus IMR-4895 powder, LC-68 (a CMP buy) cases and Winchester LRP's. Never had a problem........

only thing that has a problem is whatever is on the receiving end

You can throw a hundred or so of them in there for a couple of hours with a little paint thinner and a whole lot of the bloom will be back on the rose.
