Refreshing a Military Stock - What Products
Hi all, so...what products would you suggest for refreshing a stock (don't like BLO BTW)? Not looking for a gloss finish just something to give it a nice look.
Thanks so much!!!! Greg |

What country is the firearm from? Also, what is it about a BLO finish you don't like? Is it not durable enough? Don't like the smell? Not lustrous enough? Hard to help if I only know one thing you don't like, and not why you dislike it

Collectors look at stocks and want to see the original type finish. For many this means BLO. Tung and Shellac are two other finishes, but it depends on what rifle you have.
BLO with a follow up of Tom's gunstock wax looks really nice. 78 year old Brit wood, original as in never stripped, just fresh coats of BLO and Tom's. 80 year old Brit wood that was stripped then fresh BLO finish applied. |
