AR Lower Q

I bought an AR-15 RRA lower and I am holding on to it until I get an upper.

I was letting my cousin check it out when I had to get something, then I remembered I didn't tell him not to pull the trigger because I heard it was bad if the upper is not on it. When I got back I told him, but then I looked and the hammer didn't look like it was in the same position. Like he might of pulled the trigger, he didn't say.

So in what way is this bad, and what do I need to do to correct it?

Thanks

It can be bad because the forged alloy in front of the hammer was not designed to take the force of a hammer hit. It is very possible to break the lower receiver buy pulling the trigger without a stop block in place or the assembled upper installed. Check the area in front of the hammer for damage.

The hammer will strike the rear wall of the mag well. Not the worst and it would probably take many repeat hits to cause damage but should still be avoided just as good practice. I alway hold the hammer if I am checking trigger/hammer function with the upper off.
