S&W 617-1 new to me

S&W 617-1
DOB ~1994

I scored this on one of my recent LGS rounds. It is in excellent condition. I paid the asking price $499. It looks to have hardly been fired. The box had a Terry Tussey sticker on it but the LGS couldn’t confirm if he had worked on it, either way the action is nice.

It came with an original blue box, papers, no tools. It didn’t have original stocks and was wearing Hogue rubber. I put on a set of Ahrens combat retro that I had and they look and feel good on it.

The only issue it had was that the firing pin, retaining pin hole, on the left side of the frame looks as if it wasn’t machined completely through and the pin was driven through, bulging the remaining material and caused a burr. With a cupped punch, I was able to drive the pin back and forth a little and the burr popped of and it looks should have from the factory.

The 617 will give my Model 17, that I bought new in 1972, some company in the safe.

Excellent revolver, nice find. As an added bonus, with the recent surge in ammo pricing, 22's are fun and easy on the wallet.
