Unopened .30 Carbine Ammo Can circa 1944?

Good morning gents,

Greetings from the great state of Texas! Long time lurker and this is my second post. I received an unopened spam can of M1 Carbine ammo for Christmas. I shoot the Garand weekly and I think she accidentally confused the names. Oh well. I am just curious as the a possible value of this can and ammo and if it is worth opening up. Right now it sits on my mantle piece and is a good conversation starter! Here is what the can says:

T1CAJ
800 Cartridges
CAL .30 CARBINE BALL M1
IN CARTONS
LOT WCC 6249
REPACKED EC-9-44
"UNFIT FOOD CONTAINER"

(I like that last part!) I can do pics later if need be.

Thanks and have a great day and shoot straight!

Well it's winchester ammo. Non-corrosive as was all US carbine ammo.
I've no idea what it would fetch. $5-600 Maybe? The market's pretty crazy right now.

What I think is that you've got an obligation to respect the gift by going out and getting yourself an M1 carbine...

It's always the accessories that get expensive.....
