K31
Yesterday morning i decided to purchase my second K31. Not refinished by a dealer but as they are from the swiss arsenal. The best adress in germany is http://shop.sportarms.com/index.php?...id=2&Itemid=27.
Ok, and for 675 € he is now mine.

Sehr schones Gewehr.
Mein Bruder hat auch eins. Ein Freund hier (aus Essen) hat beschrieben wie kompliziert und teuer es ist, den 'Schein' zo erwerben. |

Good looking K31. These were such precision rifles that all bolts across all 20 + years of production and 800,000 rifles are interchangeable.
At least that is what I was told when I was concerned about the headspace of two mis matched K31's I purchased. Based on my headspace measurements, it is true. The one thing I really want on those rifles is a windage gage. Such an accurate rifle and the windage is only drift adjustable.

No problem slamfire!
http://shop.sportarms.com/index.php?...mart&Itemid=27 For about 98 € you can buy this adjustable sight. And if you have about 300 € left, take the orginal W+F-Diopter http://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=4097001.

Actually there are four different head spacings and I recall 600,000 as being closer to the numbers made. A replacable and in Swiss competion legal elevation slide with windage is available. Check around SwissRifles.com some. Guisan may help with the slide. W-F made both drill and tap and clamp on types diopters. Pierre's excellent quality Swiss Products diopter(through Brownells and Grafs only) is a little less money than the W-F. Don't expect any thing to be cheap. Unmarked bolts are most common. It is considered a 0 bolt. Then there bolts marked as 5, 10, or 15.Best
PS Unissued or new is quite rare. |

Very nice ( but as said, ouch on the price). Why so expensive there?
If you're going to reload, be careful.... The load data from the source I used (Sierra, for the 175 SMK) lists an OAL that's from a different 7.5 x 55 chambering.... How confusing is that One would normally surmise that chamber dimensions for any given caliber are the same (withing tolerances, natch). Otherwise, give it another name for cripe's sake... My son could barely close the bolt on the handloads I made. After a few rounds, I told him to bench the gun until I had a chance to check it out back on the bench at home. The published OAL had me jamming the bullet into the lands by a full 1/4 INCH. I have no idea how the few rounds he shot were as accurate as they were, but the action was stout enough (thankfully) to handle what must have been insane pressures...A modified case for the bullet comparator gave me the correct length later... Happy shooting! They're great rifles, like a Swiss Watch... Seeing those pics makes me want to buy another for myself... |

I need a little help to identify two proof marks on my K31. Especially the one with the number 50 and the inverted letters TJ (?)
Maybe they are proof marks after revision in swiss arsenal? The other one with the big W and in the middle of this the letter K+ i have not yet seen such. Maybe someone here has an idea

FC-Fan, might want to check out this page. It has some of the more common markings and their meanings.

Range Report
Yesterday i had my first attempt with my K31 scoped with a Hawke 4-12x40.
Distance: 100 m, Temperature -4° C., prone position with the original sling. I believe a damn good performance for a 79 years old lady
