My Brother-in-law has a Ruger P90DC in excellent condition. He was asked to trade it for a Navy Arms 1873 Winchester Replica in 44-40 that is also in excellent condition. Is this a good trade? What is the availability and cost of 44-40 ammunition? Thanks in advance for any information that can be provided. |

The NA 1873 goes for about $800 new so it is a good deal for your brother in-law.
44-40 ammo is readily available and is a very common round used by Cowboy Action Shooters and other. |

Howdy,
The Navy Arms '73s are nice guns. 44-40 ammo is easy to get,but at $15-17 for a box of 50,it ain't really cheap. Of course, loading your own is an option, but the 44-40 is a necked cartridge,so the extra step of lubing before sizing is required. Bellicose Bill |

DEC - Probably too late but tell him to go fer it. I shoot .44 WCF and love it. I do not lube the cases and have no problems running them through the steel dies.
