Idaho resident buying an AK in Montana or Utah?
My friend is an Idaho resident who wants to buy a semi-auto AK-47 in either Utah or Montana. Is that legal still or what? Remember, the states border Idaho and all have very loose gun laws I believe.

Federal law doesn't prohibit it and neither does Utah law. It makes no difference whether the states border or not, it just has to be legal in both the state in which the long gun is purchased and the buyer's state of residence.
Interstate private party sales are prohibited. Quote:
