First Bear hunt - Caliber advice please
So I am getting ready for my first Black Bear hunt in Upstate New York.
Never taken one before and was planning on using my CZ 550 FS .308. Is this enough gun? |

No problem with that . Use a 150 or 165 gr bullet of good construction ,not fragile.A premium bullet even better.

That's plenty of rifle. Mix it with pork, bear and pork sausage is yummy.

The bullet construction and shot placement is far more important than the caliber.

Shot placement is everything! I would rather take a round of 50BMG to the foot than a 22short to the base of the skull. all 26 of my guns are 45/70 govt, 357 mag, 22 or 12 ga... I believe in keeping it simple. Wish my wife did as well... |
