S&W 642 Serial Number

So I stopped in at my LGS yesterday and noticed they had one of the "no-lock" 642s sitting in the case.

Upon looking it over, I noticed the serial number prefix was CYA. Anyone have a theory as to whether this is just a coincidence or if someone over at S&W has a sense of humor and was giving the lawyers a one finger wave?

My M-60's sn starts with CCR.

I don't name stuff, but I'm tempted to call it Tombstone Shadow.

You can still buy no lock 642 all over the place. Ordered one for a customer two weeks ago.

Those S&W serial numbers are just serials, the letters have no meaning. I don't know what, if any, steps S&W may have taken to prevent other dubious letter combinations but some combinations have the potential to be at least interesting.

Yeah, I figured it was just random, but it made me laugh all the same.
That, and I was kind of hoping there was some engineer/designer/grand-lord-overseer at the S&W factory who was like me - saw an opportunity to pull off an elaborate prank that no one would notice and decided to go for it.

I once played "what if" with the state's three letter-three number license plates. What if the head of the Brady Campaign got "NRA"? What if the CEO of NBC got "CBS". Or the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee got "GOP"?
